Weekend News

Melanie - I went to Aruba on a airplane. I went in the ocean. Then we went back to my apartment on the third floor. We went on a boat and we went snorkeling and we went on speed boats that pull us on a tube. I eat dinner and take a nap.

Blaise - I play my toys. I go climbing with Rowan and we had a dance play. We didn't wear shoes cause we couldn't.

Isabelle - I play chalk with Callie. I went to the movie theater with my grandpa but I didn't like it. It was Sing 2, I only like two songs.

Oz - I go in hot tub with Phoenix and Ben and Ever and Xavier and Jacob. I went skiing school and I go down big hill and little hill.

Phoenix - I went in hot tub with Ever and Oz and Ben and Jacob and my Xavier. I went skiing and I went down the hill.

Emma - I went to somebody's house and we eat snack there. My Chi-Chi's (cousins) come and then we went back home.

James - I went to my Nanny's house and play Maisie. I go the beach but I didn't go in water cause it too cold. I watch a game on Nanny's tv that you can hit stuff and one is bad and one is good.

Alycia - I play my toys.

Rowan - I go to Kids Empire with Blaise. I had family dinner.

Hayden - I took a bubble bath and I took my toys in bubble bath.

Reyn - Gigi and Pop-Pop came over at my house. I watch tv and eat snack with Gigi and Pop-Pop. Me and mommy went to Home Depot.

Ekin - I play with my toys and take bubble bath. I race around.

Ben - I went to the mountains and I went skiing. I went in the hot tub with Oz and Phoenix. Then we took pictures and we watch a movie and then we went to bed.

Stephen - Play daddy

Clarke - My aunty came over my house. I was watching the Beast movie with my aunty.

Tristan - I play at my home. I made a claw with my daddy that can pick up stuff. And I got some candy.

Today, we talked about what we might need to decorate our castle. Friends had many ideas as to what the inside of a castle might look like. Here are the Cardinals ideas:

Music class brought smiles to the teacher's faces as the Cardinals sang our hello song loud and proud by themselves. We continued to read the book, Owl Moon, and learned the rest of the song that went with the book. The Cardinals enjoyed reading Owl Moon and learning the song, Owl Moon as well!

We had a conversation with our Cardinals about sleeping in our houses and castle. Three friends will rest/sleep in one of theses special place each day. We will continue this rotation to make sure each friend gets to sleep/rest in all three places!! Today it was James, Emma and Melanie's turns!!

Tuesday

Spanish class today was all about shapes. Alicia connected our building study to her Spanish class. Alicia talked about the many shapes that are found in buildings around us and in our class Castle and Houses. Alicia then read us the book, "Las formas donde jugamos" ("Shapes where we play".) Afterward, friends engaged in taking turns in a swatter game were Alicia called a shape in Spanish and friends figured out what shape she called and tapped it with the swatter. Awesome work Cardinals!! Today it was Melanie's turn to squeezed la vaca!

Friends drawing/writing letters for classmates that will be sent through the first grade post office. It was nice hearing which Cardinal was going to write to which Cardinal and then taking a proud walk to the mailbox to mail their letters.

Today it was Phoenix, Isabelle and Hayden's turn to rest/sleep in a special place!

Wednesday

After Choice time and Morning meeting, we went to the auditorium for an assembly with the entire lower school. Our second graders proudly presented their annual individual book reports. Lots of clapping and cheers! Yay, second grade!! The Cardinals then headed off to gym class in which they had a fun time doing lots of large motor activities with Josh. Afterwards each Cardinal was asked, "What they enjoyed doing in Gym class". Here is what friends had to say:

Emma - I play basketball.

Clark - I play soccer ball.

Hayden - I throw the frisbee.

Rowan - I was playing with the frisbee.

Phoenix- I playing basketball.

Ben - I like throwing the frisbee.

Alicia - I like playing basketball with my friend Reyn.

Melanie - I was running and I play soccer and basketball.

James - I like playing with the basketball and soccer balls.

Oz - I like the basketballs.

Reyn - I like the basketball.

Blaise - I did basketball.

Isabelle - I like all the stuff cause it was so fun.

Thursday

Today, Ben brought in cupcakes to celebrate his 5th birthday. Thank you Ben for sharing your birthday with us!

Our AFS community had a practice fire drill today. We talked with our Cardinals before the fire drill and explained what will happen and answered questions that our friends had. After the fire drill we asked the Cardinals, "What they would like to share about the fire drill". Here is what friends had to say:

Phoenix - I was scared cause I didn't like the beeping sound.

Stephen - That noise, beep sound.

Rowan - Well, before I was scared now I am not. I mean, last time we did the beeping noise I was scare but I am not scared this time.

Emma - I like the beep, beep sound cause it was so noisy.

Alicia - I like the beep beep cause I so super brave.

Ben - I like the beep, beeps sounds cause it mean emergency.

Hayden - I didn't like the beeps sound cause it hurt my ears.

Isabelle - I didn't like it because I didn't like the loud beeping sound. You know what, I hear that beeping at school before when we did it but I don't like it.

Blaise - Well, how do you turn the noise on so everybody know to get out?

Melanie - I like the beeps cause I not scares anymore.

Tristan - I like the fire drill cause I not scared anymore.

Clarke - I like the noise cause it was so loud.

James - I wasn't sad but I didn't like the beeping.

Reyn - I like the loud beeping sound cause I remember it from the last time.

Oz - I didn't like the beeps it scared me but it was not a fire.

As we entered the art room, Amanda told us we were going to continue our work on our quilts from a couple of weeks ago. Amanda used her sewing machine to sew our fabric together while we were gone. Today was the Cardinals turn to sew. Using a large plastic needle and yarn, the Cardinals practiced sewing on burlap. Amanda was very impressed with how much work the Cardinals did and how much they enjoyed sewing!! Ask your Cardinal to tell you about their sewing in art class.

Today it was Rowan, Reyn and Tristan's turn to rest/sleep in a special place!

This afternoon Ben's mom Jessica came in to read us two books in honor of Ben's 5th birthday! Thank you, Ben for sharing your Mom with us! Enjoy the rest of your birthday Ben!!
