Water to Ice Experiment, Presentations, Snow and More..

Monday

During morning meeting the Cardinals were very excited to hear that we were going to explore and investigate our ice experiment from last week. Friends cheered with happy smiles, giggles, laughter and conversations. As we began to explore, friends soon discovered that the ice can come out of the containers. A friend announced, "The ice is melting, that's why." Many Cardinals then began turning their containers over. Friends were amazed to see the small bubbles in the ice and that some parts of the ice were clear, while other parts were white in color. They also noticed that  we could see some of the animals heads through the ice, while with other animals, we could not. Friends used dropper to try to pick up some of the water. They also tried to chip the ice away using chopstick. When those did not work anymore, a friends asked if she could use a wooden block. Blocks then became the way to break the ice apart. Two friends worked together to free the first animal from the ice! Another friend announced, "Free the animals, come on we can do this."  We lost track of time as the Cardinals were so involved in this experiment. The Cardinals did a wonderful job of helping to clean up our huge mess. All but one friends needed to change into dry clothing!!  We put all the ice pieces in the sink and friends made predictions as to how long it will take for the ice in the sink to melt. Some of the predictions were 4 days, 60 hours, 10 days, 2 hours, this afternoon, turn on the water it disappear, after we go home"  The Cardinals want to do this experiment again. Stay tuned!!  Ask your Cardinal to tell you about their ice experiment.

After a quick snack the Cardinals were off to music class with Keisha. We sang, enjoyed movement and dance with scarves as Keisha played her guitar. The Cardinals sang our goodbye song and headed outside for recess.

Tuesday

We checked on the ice pieces from yesterday's ice experiment and here is what we found this morning. We learned that it took one day for the ice to fully melt!!

Today the Cardinals began their work on their persona /person. Friends chose the color paint that they think best matched their skin and then painted. Stay tuned for our next steps! It was Stephen's turn to squeezed la vaca today!

After recess, we started our presentations of our blueprints. Each Cardinal got to sit on the big chair (that is referred to as a teacher chair) and talk about their blueprint drawing. As each Cardinal finished presenting, friends got to raised a quite hand and ask the presenter a question, or make a comment about the blueprint! The Cardinals did a nice job being respectful listeners and asking great questions!! Ask your Cardinal how it felt sitting on the big chair and presenting?

Wednesday

Today, we continued our blueprint presentations.

The Cardinals enjoyed gym with Josh and Lisa today. Using their imaginations, the Cardinals ran and jumped across a long jump rope river, picked a colored ball from a large treasure chest and swiftly carried their ball of choice back to their very own colored bucket. Cardinal friends took many trips jumping across the jump rope river until their buckets were filled to the top with colorful balls. The Cardinals loved running, jumping, and playing while engaged in imaginative play with Josh and Lisa!  Ask your Cardinal to tell you about gym class?

Thursday

Our art class with Emilee was so much fun! The Cardinals continued to explore animal habitats. For today's activity, each Cardinal chose a small plastic animal. Using sharpies and paint sticks, each Cardinal created a habitat for their animal. Next class, we will add more to our creations. Our Cardinal teachers can't wait to see what our 3 dimensional habitats will look like when we are all finished. Stay tuned!

Friday

The Cardinals were very excited to see the snow this morning and could not wait to head outside for recess!!

Ashanti read us the book called A Big Mooncake for little Star and each Cardinal got to pick out their own book!

Outside snow fun!!
