The Cardinals took a walk around campus to look for signs of Fall. We found many trees with different color leaves. We found lots of brown leaves on the ground, which friends took joy in throwing up and watching them come down. We also saw 15 scarecrows made by our 2nd and 3rd graders displayed out front of lower school! We also ran and played on one of the big fields on campus.

Today in music class with Keisha, we sang and did the movements for Busy Bees. Keisha read us a book called Five Little Pumpkins and then we acted out the story with movements of our bodies. Our body actions began with being pumpkins by getting into a ball on the floor, then standing up as the pumpkins say "it's getting late." Then using our hands and voices for "witches in the air and we don't care." Friends then ran around the music room pretending to be witches by laughing. We finished with "the five pumpkin ready for some fun" and the Cardinals making the sound of the wind and running around. The Cardinals also did the movements to See the Pony Galloping. Music class finished with the Cardinals singing our goodbye song!

Tuesday
After Alicia greeted us, she tallied the ways the Cardinals were feeling this morning by writing the words No muy bien, Muy bien and Así - así on a white board. As each Cardinal shared how they were feeling, Alicia made tally marks and the Cardinals counted in Spanish. We continued counting until all the Cardinals had a turn to share. We then went over colors in Spanish such as red - rojo, yellow - amarillo, blue - azul, black - negro, grey - gris, brown - café, green - verde, and purple - morado. To help reinforce our learning, Alicia introduced a chant with these colors that is sang to the tune of "Frere Jacques". Then, Alicia played a game in which the Cardinals walked around the Spanish room and as Alicia called a color in Spanish, friends would point it out. This week was Ekin's turn to squeeze la vaca which says, moooochas gracias (thank you very much) and all the Cardinals responded, ¡de nada! (your welcome!)
Wednesday
In gym class with Lisa, we worked on following directions, focusing and coordination. As Friends enjoyed large motor activities such as running, throwing, jumping and working with a partner or small group while taking turns.
Thursday
The Cardinals were very excited to wear and show their special costumes today. Friends were eager to get out to the playground as they watched from our classroom window as parents decorated and made the playground very festive. Friends truly enjoyed our special snack today which was provided by our wonderful Cardinal families. Thank you all for your generous contributions to our Harvest Fest special snack and decorating our playground!
Friday
After returning our borrowed library books, Michelle read us two books, The Gruffalo and Saturday. Many friends announced they heard or have The Gruffalo book at home. As Michelle read the book Saturday, friends connected by saying things they did on the weekend. The Cardinals then picked and checked out a book.
One of our Cardinal friends spotted a rainbow in the sky this morning!
Ask your Cardinal what was their favorite part of Harvest Fest?
Have a wonderful weekend!
