Monday
Spring Break News
Oz - I went to Disney World and I go the rides. I saw Goofy and Chipmunks and Mickey and the girl Mickey and the boy duck and the girl duck. I throw the ball and the dog got it. I go swimming and go the hot tub.
Phoenix - I went to Virginia and I play there and I make brownies. I go there in airplane. I go the beach.
Emma - I went to somebody's house. I play my toys.
James - I went to a hotel and it was a pool. I go in the pool two times at night time. I saw a tub and when I go in it there was one hundred balls.
Alycia - I play in my doll house with mommy. Dj come my house and she hug me.
Rowan - I go on the plane to Disney. I saw Mickey Mouse and Anna and Elsa and I also saw Olaf and he didn't melt in the hot. I got on rides and I go on Splash Mountain and I got wet and the drops was a little scary. I saw Ben at Disney.
Hayden - I go to Chuck E. Cheese with Blaise and Clarke. I play games and I had pizza. Clarke and Blaise eat pizza too.
Reyn - I went somewhere fun and I go the Ferris wheel. I make a new friend. I went to the Jungle gym. I play with baby Jag and he laugh.
Ben - I go to Disney World and the next day I go on rides. We go to a lunch and we go on a sky line. I saw Mickey Mouse and Donald duck and Mini. You know I saw Rowan and Oz at Disney. I go on plane to Disney but I don't know how Oz and Rowan got there.
Stephen - I play.
Clarke - I was eating dinner at a restaurant and I got some coffee cake. I go to Chuck E. Cheese with Blaise and Copper and Hayden. I play my baby Grant. I watch a movie and I eat some ice cream.
Tristan - I go see the trains and I also play. I got to make my own cookies.
Melanie - I go to dinner with mommy. I go to a basketball game with daddy and EJ. I watch a movie.
Blaise - I play video games. I go on a train. I go Chuck E. Cheese and I ate dinner and I went to bed and that's all.
Isabelle - I went to a hotel and I go to a water park. My dad came home on Wednesday and he give me presents. I play with Callie in the snow on yesterday. I went down a street mountain and I fell off my scooter and I hurt my knee.
Today each Cardinal worked on a journal entry titled, "What did you do over Spring Break?" Friends took time to recall, draw the things they did, give dictation or did kid-writing.

In music class with Keisha, the Cardinals sang the songs Jambo and Chuka-Chaka. The Cardinals came up with a few ways to move their bodies on the train. Ask your Cardinal to sing one or both of these songs.
Tuesday
Alicia greeted and welcomed us to Spanish class. Alicia told us that today we were going on a Spanish shape walk around our lower school. Each Cardinal chose a shape and got a small spy glass. The Cardinals were excited to be detectives as they explored the hallways in search of shapes. Once friends found their shape, they then called it out to Alicia in español. Nice work Cardinals! Ask your Cardinal which shape they chose and how to say it in español? This week it was Hayden's turn to squeeze la vaca!
After Spanish class, we headed outside to run, explore and play. We came back in and made hot chocolate to warm up. The Cardinals were excited to have this drink on a very cold Spring day!
The Cardinals then engaged in a letter hunt activity. The teachers placed letters around our classroom and each Cardinal went two at a time on a hunt and brought back a letter. As each friend came back they needed to tell the class which letter they found, the sound it makes and one or two words that began with their letter. After all the Cardinals had a chance to find a letter, we used the letters found to see how many words we could create. By moving letters around we were able to create many words such as: at, pat, bat, hat, bat, sat, red, wet, art, paw, star, lap, cap, ear, heart, eat and ate. A teacher wrote down each word as we created them and realized we had 16 words, the same amount of our Cardinal friends. A word for each of our Cardinals!! Ask your Cardinal which letter they chose on our letter hunt activity and what sound it makes?

In art class the Cardinals continued to work on their sculptures they made before Spring break. Today, Amanda demonstrated how the Cardinals might paint their sculptures. The Cardinals enjoyed painting and watching the water turning different colors as they rinsed their brushes before choosing another color.
Friday
Ashanti read the book, The Trouble with Time Travel by Stephen W. Martin in Library class. The book was about a girl named Max who decided to build a time machine. As always the Cardinals were delighted to chose their own book to bring back to our classroom! Ask you Cardinal what book they chose from the Library?
